Concordia College is a private, four year liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), located in Moorhead, which is a city in the US state of Minnesota, serving as the county seat of Clay County, with a population of over 32 000 inhabitants, which makes it the largest city in northwest Minnesota.
Concordia was established in October, 1891, being founded by some of the first Norwegian settlers to the Red River Valley region of the U.S. Its mission is to `influence the affairs of the world by sending into society thoughtful and informed men and women dedicated to the Christian life`, the college being academically organized into 24 departments including 78 majors, also offering its students 12 pre-professional programs, as well as Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music degrees.
Concordia's athletic teams are known as the Cobbers and they compete in NCAA Division III, in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). Their distinctive colors are maroon and gold.
